JORSnix is my ongoing and upcoming Linux distribution project. It’s going to start LFS-style with a how-to. Then we’ll upgrade to a script and soon a real installer. It will start being X61 Tablet specific but hopefully get input from other tablet users and we can spread out. If you have an X200 Tablet, X60 Tablet, or X40-series Tablet, please contact me, because those are my first goal to get working on top of my own.
After that we’ll look at Fujitsu, then HP, then Dell.

So onto the howto.

For now, we’ll assume you also have an X61 Tablet. If you don’t please try to follow along and report what doesn’t work because we need feedback.

First we need to get Ubuntu installed. We’ll be installing 9.04. Grab an iso and install Unetbootin. Follow the Unetbootin instructions to install Ubuntu to a flash drive and boot off of it. I don’t know if you’re installing from another distribution or from Windows, so I’m not going to document this process (at least for now).

Install Ubuntu as usual from your flash drive onto your hard drive. Boot vanilla Ubuntu.

The rest is in progress. Mostly as soon as I feel like typing it up.
